The birth of a new understanding about human nature

A quiet revolution has been taking place, a revolution in understanding our own nature. We have begun to scientifically recognize the existence within ourselves of a Soul, a non-physical entity whose life continues separate from that of the body. In the not too distance future the recognition of the soul and its mechanisms will be an established scientific fact, and the study of the soul and its relation to the body and personality will grow into a central branch of science.

These insights hold such significance because they indicate the means to unlock the immense capacities of the soul that lie hidden within us. As these new and empowered states become integrated into main stream living, they will gradually influence many of the structures of our society.

This new understanding has been called The Science of the Soul because it is a meeting of science and spirituality. In the past we had many separate bodies of knowledge that were disconnected. Religion dealt with things of the Spirit whereas science pertained to the laws of the material world. Education and psychology fell somewhere in between. The Science of the Soul draws from a number of disciplines and bodies of knowledge combined into a “General theory of relativity” about the nature of consciousness. It understands in a clear and logical way the inner world of the soul and the spirit and how they are woven and meet in our bodies and our personalities. And rather than reduce the essential human experience to cold logic, it helps us to more directly access the experience of the mystic and the transcendent.

This science is built upon an understanding of the human energy system, the energy bodies and centers. It draws upon the recent developments in evolutionary psychology and sociobiology as they give us insights into the force of instincts and nature as they operate within us. It draws from the world traditions for raising consciousness including the worlds religions and the practices of indigenous cultures. It builds upon recent advances in medicine in understanding genetics, the brain, the glands and their effects upon consciousness. It draws upon astronomy and astrology and reveals the influence of the great cycles of nature and their effect upon human beings. It reveals the nature of the psychosomatic connection between body, mind, emotion and the soul. It draws upon understandings from the field of education and reveals the mechanisms of learning and development from infancy to old age. It draws upon the science of sociology and anthropology in understanding the forces of enculturation and social conditioning. The science of the soul draws from the richness of the earth’s traditions, builds upon them and uses them as a spring board to pioneer new territory.

Like in all the major branches of science, what is initially theoretical becomes applied to real world situations to better our lives. The Science of the Soul is an effective methodology for the unfoldment of consciousness and the opening of human potential. It has immediate applications in daily life activities. Many of its methods are for use on oneself by oneself. And they are ways of working with energy when we relate to others and the world around us. It shows us how to make every day life the grounds for growth and self-development.
